Beef with Olives

Looking for a delicious Shabbat recipe? No need to look any farther, this is it! Everyone likes it, even if they don’t like olives because you boiled the olives 3 times, it takes away the bitterness of it. This meal goes well with rice or potatoes and with a glass of red wine. Don’t forget, everything tastes better with a bit of love! πŸ™‚

Cook time: 2-3 hours

Feeds: 4 people

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 kilo (3.3 lbs) or a whole roast beef
  • 240 g (8 oz) tomato paste
  • water
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 can green olives with no pits

Directions:

  • In a pot add the olives and water and let come to a boil
  • Once the olives are boiled strain them and repeat 2 more times
  • In a separate pot add the tomato paste, water, dried basil, sweet paprika, and cumin and stir well
  • Cut the beef into cubes
  • Add the beef into the pot with the tomato paste and let it come to a boil
  • Once it boils, turn the heat down from high to low and let it simmer for 2 hours
  • Once the olives have boiled 3 times, add them to the beef and stir
  • Remember to stir the beef regularly
  • Serve and Enjoy πŸ™‚

Directions:

  • On a pan on low-medium heat, add your oil to get a small coating on your pan
  • Crack your eggs and let cook until your liking
  • Once you take the egg off the heat, add salt and pepper

  • Cut some vegetables for a side (cucumber, red bell pepper, tomato) and season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice

Balsamic Silan Glazed Salmon

Balsamic Silan Glazed Salmon

Silan is the best. You can use it on almost any protein. This salmon recipe was DELICIOUS! The salmon packs a full flavor into very few key ingredients and pairs well with a caesar salad, but I opted for my crispy roasted potato recipe. Either way, be sure to pair it with a nice light wine. Don’t forget everything tastes better with a bit of love <3

*feeds 3 people*

Ingredients:

  • 1 lemon (save the zest)
  • 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice
  • splash white wine
  • 1.2 Kilos (2.6 lbs) of Salmon
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbs of hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup silan (date syrup)
  • 2 stalks fresh rosemary
  • tsp salt
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp soy sauce

Directions:

  • soak the salmon in lemon juice with slices of lemon on top with salt and white wine for at least 1 hour
  • Preheat the oven to 180 C (350 F)
  • On the stove that is turned off, add the balsamic, minced garlic, soy sauce, lemon zest to the saucepan
  • Turn the stove on to medium-high heat and let come to a boil
  • Add the silan and hoisin sauce careful to maintain heat at a boil and constantly mixing as you add the sticky ingredients
  • Once all the ingredients are incorporated, reduce to a simmer and set a time for 10 minutes
  • Take the salmon and place the lemon slices on the baking sheet and place the salmon on top, add the rosemary on top and pour the reduction onto the salmon and cook in the oven for 15-20 minutes
  • Serve and Enjoy! πŸ™‚
